Dear Martha, Molly, Rachel, Emily, and Linnea, We thank God that your Mother/Grandmother/ Great-Grandmother came into our lives. We shared many special, (always fun) times with her here in Colorado Springs. She had a beautiful zest for life on this earth. We know that she is having even a more beautiful life in heaven. She was always a wonderful encourager. We are so thankful that she was near you in Washington these past two years. May you always cherish your memories of her, as do we. May our awesome God comfort you, Love, Dick, Cindy, and Marie

I met Jean at Martha's birthday party in the 1st grade. Evan at 6 years old, I was most impressed. During my childhood she was a bit like a second mother in my eyes. I remember sitting in front of the TV with Jean & Martha watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan...she was indeed 'the cool mom'. I still have a little pin of a canoe paddle she gave me after Martha I got stuck in the middle of a lake in Northern Wisconsin trying to figure out how to paddle the canoe back to shore. After high school graduation Martha & Jean, my mother and I went for dinner at the Gun club and we had Grasshoppers for dessert...a right of passage into the adult world only Jean would think to give. At her final Sherwood Drive party, she let my son Gabe sit in on the drum set and play with the combo, he was 12 and a budding musician. Jean always had a unique way of giving to others and a knack for creating memories in the moment for all around her. I last saw her at Martha's wedding in Keystone, CO. She seemed ageless to me, amazing and an inspiring example of how to handle the passing of time with grace, poise and spirit. Thank you Jean, for all your gifts you so generously shared with me and so many others. I will forever celebrate your life on this earth!

Jean had extraordinary zest for life. Her very tone of voice exuded enthusiasm. The last time I saw Jean was at her daughter's birthday party in February. Jean was sitting on the sofa, delighting in talking to her three granddaughters. I look forward to remembering her with Martha, who indeed has loved her well. Jean lived large, and we will miss her.

Jean was a 'true lady' and a genuine friend for life! She taught me a lot about life and I'll always remember her with great fondness. She was our neighbor on Sherwood Dr. in Beloit, WI and my children Ty & Robyn always referred to Jean as 'a really neat lady'! That she was!!
