I shall treasure the summer Jim and Becky were in Tuscaloosa for a visit. Jim was so cordial as he escorted three ladies (Becky, Aunt Martha and myself) around Tuscaloosa to dinner at Dreamland and UA campus. Being around him that summer made me realize he was a wonderful person. He will surely be missed by everyone who knew him. My prayers are with Becky and family as they go through this difficult time.

To the Hester family. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I know he will be missed. He is with the Lord now. When he would visit Tapestry on a special Sunday or holiday he appreciated that I remembered his name, but did point out that his name is James Sr. which he said with a big smile:)

Dorine and the Wentz family were so sad to hear about Jim's death. Though it has been many years since we lived across the street from you it seems like yesterday. Those memories of sharing food, helping with the house and yard and watching the kids grow up were special times. May God be with you and your family, Dorine, Wayne, Rose and the entire Wentz family

We met Jim (and Becky) through Jeff and Gayle Herrmann. It was always fun to talk with Jim about good food, cooking, barbecue, travel and business. He was smart and kind and knew so much about so many things. Jim was a good man and we will miss him. Our sincere condolences to the family.

My wonderful father in law and sweet 'Papa Jim' you are so missed by us all. Thank you for being James' dad and teaching him how to be an amazing father and husband. I will always have you in my mind in the kitchen with a towel flung over your shoulder or hanging off your pants! Because of you I have learned to love a great knife and jazz while making dinner as well as a cat-nap in the car! Words can not express the void you leave in my family, all the pictures, hours spent watching Anna play sports and the trips with Abby and Lucas. We love you and know you are dancing in heaven looking down and watching over us all-towel in hand!

I work at Metropolitan Market in the coffee shop and Jim was a frequent customer over the years. There were times when it was obvious that he wasn't feeling well but it never seemed to affect his positive interactions with everyone he came in contact with. He always had a kind word for others. I will miss looking out and seeing him sitting at one of the tables with his little cup of espresso.

The first time I met Jimmy was, appropriately enough, in an import food store, where he was picking out his favorite cheese. He was a happy man! That is how I will remember him. Jim was a delight to know and an example of courage and grace during these past few years, in pain. I have wonderful memories of cooking, laughing and sharing family and travel stories with he and Becky in their kitchen. Always the consummate host, Jim will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. Hugs and prayers for Becky, all his siblings and the children and grandchildren to whom he was devoted, and so adored.

I was privileged to have Jim both as a colleague and friend. We always had the most interesting conversations, even about work sometimes(HA)! He lived life to the fullest and exemplified how one's determination and attitude can be a formidable force against illness. I was in awe of his cheery attitude and love of life. I send my most sincere condolences to Jim's family.

I worked with Jim, through Malarkey Roofing Products, and I enjoyed every call and conversation we ever had! He always made me laugh and he enjoyed having me tell him stories about the Portland Brewfest each year. His laughter was contagious and I will keep him and his laughter in my heart always. God Bless!

The entire Staff here @ CRS, Inc. wishes to extend our prayers at this very difficult time to the Hester family. Jim was like a father figure to me and was instrumental in assisting me with knowledge and direction regarding our early Commercial Roofing experiences(Which were not all positive). As our business interests realigned in the early 1990's we were fortunate to once again have the benefit of Jim's experience and wisdom. Jim reminded me often that I should be more patient and try and enjoy the business experiences I was having, I often talked more than I listened, and I know Jim knew that, but he never gave up on me. On more than one occasion Jim gave unselfishly of his time to assist us with a challenge we were experiencing, and was genuinely interested in furthering our success. At Christmas time in 2003 I sent Jim one of our logo'd Fleece Jackets, which I understand he wore constantly. I ran into Jim late in 2006 and he shared with me how much he enjoyed his Jacket, but he was disappointed that it was wearing out. At Christmas of 2006 I sent him a newer model. The last time I spoke with him (Earlier this year) he thanked me for the newer model, but insisted that the original one was so much better. Best wishes to the Hester Family.

Jim was my grandfather, I loved coming over to his house and watching him cook, i remember one time we were decorating my grandma's birthday cake together. almost every year my grandparents would go to Seattle and go to a Childerns play. The last play i went to with him was a play written by Australian people, he really liked it, he laughed alot. His passing was a tragedy. One time my sister and I were making some cereal and right when my sister poured the milk it came out in clumps, it was expired, its a funny memory! He would always make my cheese and crackers and apples when i was young, to keep me regular, HA! The last thing he made me was microwave Mac 'N' Cheese. All of the pictures of me were taken by him. I remember one Chirstmas he and my grandma bought me a Guitar. I am going to miss him a lot. I know the Lord will keep him in great care.

So sorry to hear about Jim's death. I remember him from his PLU days and after when he lived in Seattle and shared an apartment with Clayton Kirking. My thought are with you Becky and your family.
