Obituary of Helen McKale Schilling

Age 53, of Tacoma, WA, died peacefully in the early hours of March 17, 2011 at home surrounded by family. She was Born November 8, 1957, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of the late Rose and John Campbell. She was married for 17 years to her loving husband, Al Schilling, who survives. Mrs. Schilling loved America and became a Citizen of this great Country in 1988. She served in the United States Air Force as a Health Services Technician and retired after more then 20 yrs of Honorable service. After her retirement, she continued to work for numerous Medical Facilities, Hospitals and Veteran Affairs Offices while following her husband as he changed assignment locations in the Air Force and later Air Guard. Most recently she worked for the Nuclear Medicine Department at Madigan Hospital who she called her second family because of how special they all were to her. The family would also like to thank the Franciscan Hospice Team, especially Tita and Alene, who took such great care of Helen in the last few weeks of her life as well as Gina and Bri who showed Helen so much love during those weeks also. She is survived by her daughters, Ty Schilling of Lakewood, WA; Alison Schier of Columbia, SC; and her son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Kristin Schier of Mount Laurel, NJ; grandchildren Caden and Sydney Schier; brothers Joseph, Patrick, Jackie and their families in England; mother and father-in-law, Bert and Judy Schilling; and sister-in-law Sara Schilling. A Memorial Service will be held at the McChord Air Force Base Consolidated Club situated just inside the McChord main gate on 26 March 2011 from 1-2pm with a reception to follow at the same location.
