Obituary of David William Jacobson

We envision David Jacobson donned in his cowboy boots, strolling into paradise with his easy going gait and greeting the angels with his kind smile and warm heart. David died on Sept. 25th, 2011 in Port Orchard. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife, Debra Jacobson, his step-son, Matt Maitland ; daughter-in-law, Shoko , mother, Emily Jacobson, sisters: Sandy (Eric) Glover, Patti (Bob) Holman, Teresa (Brad) McFall, JulieTupper and Melissa Jacobson. David also leaves many nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his father, William Jacobson. David was born on 11/6/58 and was a life-long resident of Port Orchard. He graduated from South Kitsap High School , then attended Olympic Community college. David worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for 32 years as a mechanical engineer. He was well liked and highly respected by his peers. David’s cheerfulness, knowledge and willingness to help made him a natural advisor to many. David was a man’s man and earlier in life was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and the outdoors. Later, he and his wife Debi, created a hobby farm, consisting of chickens, goats, ducks, dogs, cats and some free-loading squirrels. He loved riding his John Deer tractor. His home became his sanctuary and it seemed he was always busy with projects…something he seemed to live for. David enjoyed being busy, loved to entertain and cook, especially when surrounded by his family and friends. In fact, many friends were like family to him. Going to a BBQ or holiday dinner at Dave and Debi’s was guaranteed to be a feast. After he married Debi, they enjoyed taking frequent trips together to Mexico and easily made many new friends from around the world during these trips. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 15th at Parkwood Community Club in Port Orchard. 3045 Madrona Dr. SE Port Orchard WA 98366 ) We will gather to celebrate and remember David’s life…to help each other in this difficult transition as we fill the hole in our hearts with David’s kind and loving spirit.
