Obituary of Donovan Erwin Allen

Donovan Erwin Allen was born September 24, 1976, in Hattiesburg, MS, to Winsdale Allen, Jr., and Ludell Mitchell Allen. Donovan was a dedicated and well rounded student throughout his formal education. While at Hattiesburg High, he played football and basketball, participated in band and was involved with the Forensics (Speech and Debate) Team. As a freshman, he received the Most Outstanding Citizen Award. Donovan graduated from Hattiesburg High School in 1995. Mr. Allen continued his education at the University of Southern Mississippi where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health Administration. Upon higher education commencement, Donovan gained employment as a Biomedical Engineer Technician at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Donovan fell in love and married Carla Y. Allen, and they have two daughters, Celeste Allen and Gabrielle Allen. Bro. Donovan was born into the family of the Lord on July 22, 1990, and he worshipped with the Dewey Street Church of Christ in Hattiesburg, MS. He served as Youth Minister of the Warner Street/Tacoma Church of Christ where he also served as Bible School Teacher. Donovan departed this life on July 7, 2008. Left to mourn are his loving and dedicated wife, Carla Y. Allen of Spanaway, WA; two adorable daughters, Celeste Y. Allen and Gabrielle E. Allen of Spanaway, WA; his parents, Winsdale Allen, Jr. and Ludell Mitchell Allen of Hattiesburg, MS; his father-in-law, Jacob Burns and mother-in-law, Beverly Burns of Rose Hill, MS; Two sisters-in-law, Varonica Cook of Rose Hill, MS, and Jerra (Telly) Allen of Hattiesburg, MS; one Brother-in-law, Henry (Stephnie) Cook II of Meridian, MS; six uncles, ten aunts, one great aunt and a tremendous gathering of relatives and friends. Viewing to be held 11AM to 4PM Friday 7/11 at Orchard Street Church of Christ, 3601 S. Orchard St., Tacoma, WA. Memorial service to be held 1PM Saturday, 7/12 also at Orchard Street Church of Christ. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
