Obituary of Adrienne Riley Barbon

Adrienne was born November 19, 1956 in Chester, Montana. The daughter of Hilarion Riley(d) & Annette May, she was the third of seven children along with brothers Patrick, Larry and Robert and sisters Joan, Theresa and Pauline. Adrienne grew up in Montana and Arizona (where she lived for a short time) before arriving in Tacoma, Washington where she graduated from Stadium High School in 1974. Married to Henry Barbon (and later divorced), Adrienne had three beautiful children Stephanie, Brian and Jason who she devoted her life to taking care of as well as her grandchildren Katrina, Tyler, Jasmine, Skylar, Liam, Mataeya, Damon, Thomas, Christopher(d) and Maximo(d) in later years. As a single mother, Adrienne supported her family with a rewarding and lasting career working for the City of Tacoma working as a maintenance machinist at the Tacoma Waste Water Treatment Plant. During her tenure, she would also serve as a computer analyst and in public relations promoting the famous TAGRO. Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2001, Adrienne would retire after 20+ years with the City of Tacoma in 2003. Adrienne would spend the next nine years overcoming her battle with brain cancer and then in 2005 being diagnosed with CLL, a type of Leukemia. She enjoyed her time with many different activities such as collecting antiques, gardening, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. In October of 2011, Adrienne suffered a stroke that led to the quick deterioration of her health and battle to survive. She was always known for being independent and strong willed. She was a fighter who never gave up on any challenge she faced and a woman who displayed tremendous passion for the life and caring of everyone she came into contact with. Sunday morning March 4th, 2012…Adrienne Barbon peacefully passed away in her sleep. She now watches over her family as their protecting and loving angel. Loved by her Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and numerous friends, we invite you to join our family to celebrate and remember the life of Adrienne Riley Barbon on Saturday March 17th, 2012 at the Tacoma Christian Reformed Community Church located at 2419 East 72nd Street, Tacoma WA 98404. The Memorial Service will take place at 11am with the reception to follow immediately after at the Church.
