Obituary of Ronald Theodore Jensen

Ronald Theodore Jensen "Gone fishin' with Dad" February 6, 1951 - December 5, 2008 Ron was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1969. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, and all sports. He was preceded in death by our mom, Violet, December 11, 1987, and our dad Teddy December 15, 1996. Ron is survived by his brother Philip and family – Philip Jr. (Kari), and great nephew’s Teagan and Aidan. Frances (Ron) and Kevin Horton; Patty, Bobby and Maria Ramirez, and their families. Brother Tony (Diane) and family – Bridget (Matt) and children Russell, Maggie and Molly Hawk; Erin and Holly Jensen. Sister Beverly (Joe) Wilson and family –Neil and Elizabeth. Ron had some very special friends that meant the world to him. Mike and Margaret Flannery, who have been more like family, than just best friends. Their children, and families – Michael and Lisa Flannery, Eric and Jennifer, Christian (his fishing buddy), Cailin and Chase Land, Tom and Dee Dee Bianchi. Ron worked many different jobs over the years. He was a foreman at New Life Fertilizer, drove fuel truck during forest fire season, drove semi-truck with buddy Steve, and for many years worked for the Goodwill. He was diagnosed with liver cancer in May of 2007, and was given 6 months to a year to live. He defied the odds, and lived 20 months. He fought valiantly to the end, and never gave up. Just days before he passed away did he agree to go on Hospice. Ron was an avid fisherman, and loved nothing more than spending the day out of the Cowlitz or Nisqually River, the Puget Sound, and any number of lakes around the area. He loved to go sturgeon fishing, or taking a charter boat out of Westport. He was always willing to teach anyone who asked him how to fish. He always kept everyone outfitted with fishing gear, and if you ever needed to borrow a fishing pole and reel, all you had to do was give him a call. He had a very special friendship with Christian Land, who is now eleven years old. Ron helped watch him from the time he was born, and they developed a deep bond that will last forever. They became fishing buddies, and you could always count on Christian to go fishing with Ron at the drop of a hat. A Special thank you to all of the staff at Charlton Place, Assisted Living; St. Joseph’s Hospital, and Orchard Park Rehabilitation and Care Facility, and Hospice.
