I have many fond memories of Mr. Hall. He used to let me ride Shorty and feed him apples. It never felt like Halloween until he brought us gourds and corn stalks. I remember Riley bringing us Christmas presents and the time Riley thought our kitten was a shoe. I remember Mr. Hall having to put shoes on a log on our block because Riley was forever retrieving them. I remember long afternoon chats, walking through his gardens and feeding his fish when he was away, but mostly I remember his warm smile and kind heart.

Although he was no relation to me, I will always think of him as Grandpa Dean. And to him I was always Pat and Sue's daughter, who stood in his driveway every morning to catch the bus and who came to have a little afternoon chat nearly every afternoon on the way home. He was always out in the back garden, puttering with something. And he always took the time to smile and ask how my day had been. Grandpa Dean was always kind and generous - letting me take Shorty out for rides in the shiny, red cart and even bringing me warm cocoa a morning or two when it was freezing cold at the bus stop. Dean, you will be fondly remembered and missed. Even by someone who lives as far away as Denmark. My sympthathies to his family. I hope that you are all well. Sincerely, Brenda

We're very sorry to hear of your loss, Dick. Dean was a super guy. I'll never forget when he told my dayghters they could have the pony, Shorty, if they had a good home for her. I never saw them work harder at cleaning the barn so it would be spotless when he inspected it. We saw Dean alot down by the Islandview store. He alway had a smile on his face. With deepest sympathy, Bob & Debbie

Nick and I wish to extend our deepest sympathies for your loss, but we also wish to join you in celebrating the life of this endearing man. He will be remembered in this house as a good neighbor who was always quick to offer assistance when a bus was missed or a car refused to start. He was generous of his time and spirit, and his absence will be felt by all who knew him as friend and neighbor. Our best to you and your extended family.
