Obituary of Edith Ann Brick

Edith (Edie) Ann Baird Erwin Brick ended her courageous battle with breast cancer on Jan. 28th surrounded by her family. Edie was born in Tacoma to Elton and Irene Baird. From an early age, she knew she could make a difference in people's lives and dreamed of becoming a school teacher. While raising her daughters, Edie put herself through college at UPS. She taught 5th grade at Manitou Park Elementary for 25 years. "Mrs. Brick" was known as the teacher who made a difference. Edie had a wonderful sense of humor and loved the simple things in life: a manicured lawn, long walks with friends and her dogs (most recently her Dachshund, Liberty Bell), visiting with neighbors and meeting new people (and their dogs), plants and flowers, sunny days on Ruston Way, and quality time with her family. She was immensely proud of her strong, independent daughters and her talented grandchildren. Edie is predeceased by her brother Elton Terry, both parents and her husband Grant Brick. She is survived by daughters Jodi Veitenhans (Jerry) & Christi Ortiz (Pablo), grandchildren Jesse Roberson and Carmen Ortiz. Special thanks to MultiCare Oncology, Hospice, and Living Life Care Home for their loving care and support. Donations in Edie's memory may be made to The Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
