Obituary of Patrick Terrence McMurtry

"Irish" Pat was born in Tacoma, WA on January 5, 1932 and passed away April 17, 2011 after a short bout with cancer. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maude and his brother, Mike. He greatly loved his family and is survived by his daughter Shannon Daulley (Jim), son Patrick, grandchildren Ryan Dirks (Tiffany), Meaghan Mylet (Nathaniel), and great grandchildren, Calum and Jackson. Pat was one of Tacoma's most recognized athletes as an amateur and professional boxer. He was inducted in both the Washington and Pierce County Hall of Fames. His proudest athletic memories were filling Lincoln Bowl to capacity for his two home town fights and his victory over George Chuvalo in a nationally televised bout in Madison Square Garden. No services will be held at this time.
