Obituary of Donald Charles Bacon

Don (Charles) was born to Donald Charles and Nina Bacon on Nov.3, 1938, in St. Louis, MO, and died June 1, 2009, in Tacoma, WA. He grew up in Overland, MO, graduated from Ritenour High School in 1956, Southeast Missouri State College (B.S. in Edu.) in 1961, and the University of Missouri (M.A. in Mathematics) in 1964. His career was with NASA, Edwards AFB, CA, as an engineer/manager working with experimental aircraft and the space shuttle. He also was a high school teacher and college instructor. Among his activities and interests were church elder, 'Y' Indian Guides, Cub and Boy Scout leader, stamp collecting, model railroading, travel, and reading. Married Katherine (Young), Maplewood, MO, in 1961. We had a great life together of 47 years. Sons are Andrew (Heather) and Jeffrey (Brenda), and grandchildren Carina Frances and Zander J. Brothers are Jack (Carolyn) and the late Donald Ray; sisters Jane (Marvin) Ruehling and the late Nina; brother-in-law Jim (Phyllis) Young. An informal service and scattering of ashes will be held at a later date in Tacoma.
