My deepest condolences to the family in this time of loss. I am friends with Jeff Bacon and my father, Bob Kempel, worked with Don at NASA. My memories of Don are of a quiet reserved man who would push you to think your way through a particular problem.

Kathy and Family: There are never enough words to comfort you in your loss. But you can see by the many messages how much Don was appreciated, respected and loved by his friends and co-workers. No matter what my issue or concerns, I could always count on Don to have the answer--or find the answer. Part of my focus was on what it took to get a particular task done. He could pull out all the elements: money, workforce, resources. He always responded to my questions. Thank you for loaning him to us. Our prayers go with you. Margaret & George

Don's advice, leadership, and guidance were big factors many successes at Dryden. He knew how things worked and was willing to share his knowledge to the good benefit others. His steady, unruffled approach was a positive influence in challenging times. Don knew the right question to ask. Don helped me succeed professionally and he earned my respect and appreciation. I thought of him many times since his retirement and feel a great sense of loss at his passing. You have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Kathy and family I had hoped to see you at the class reunion, but now I understand. Wanda's email filled me with sadness. Your move in December put you in the best place for your family. I decided to write because of your move. Our daughter Beth lives in Fall City with her husband and two daughters.(6 and 4) We try to visit twice a year. I will be up there next week for the end of school and dance recitals. Much too soon to invite you to lunch this visit. However, in January we will be up there for birthdays. I would love to meet somehow. Take care, Sincerely, Harriet patharriet@,aol.com

Dear Kathy, Mary and I wish to express our sorrow at the loss of Don. Don and I met as kids, on yearly vacations, then started passing each other on fleeting occassions, such as MU, and in Lancaster. I very much appreciated his visit to Tennessee. Don was a very good man, and I know you and the boys feel his loss deeply. Will
