Denise Cole

Obituary of Denise Cristine Cole

Deni Crawford Cole

5/15/52 – 11/23/2023

On Thanksgiving, we lost a mom, a loving partner, a sister, an aunt, a cousin and a great friend.

Deni leaves behind many who loved her and will miss her dearly: her daughter, Jeni Copp; Deni’s longtime partner, Glenn McCarty; her siblings, Colleen Dutmers, Carol Parsons, and, Charlie Crawford; and countless family and friends who now have the bittersweet responsibility of keeping the memory of Deni alive.

Born to Merton and Jean Crawford in Tacoma, Washington on May 15, 1952, Deni was a proud daughter of University Place and she graduated from Curtis High School in 1970. As many others before her, Deni experienced life’s fair share of sorrows, but her unwavering enthusiasm for life always helped her through the tough moments. She worked tirelessly to create a life for herself built on friendship, laughter, adventure, sincerity, delight, delicious food, and good music. Always, good music!

Deni was blessed to have had many passions and professions throughout her life. Always a force of nature, she was a savvy poker player and a professional card dealer for many years. She later found her calling in real estate as a residential property manager, focusing her dedicated spirit on helping her homeowners and tenants. All who worked with her loved doing so, as they knew how devoted Deni was to improving the lives of her clients. Fighting for others fueled her soul. She had her computer with her in the hospital, still working hard for her people.

Deni had a natural zest, tenacity, grit, and optimism that she applied to everything she did, and couldn’t help but bring joy to everyone she encountered. But, given the choice, Deni would surely wish to spend any spare moment she had as the #1 Fan, groupie, and roadie for her partner Glenn, and all the rock bands he lent his talent to over the years.

Deni always lived life to the fullest. Whether she caught your eye while driving her bright orange Ford Maverick coupe, (her favorite high school graduation present) made you laugh when hunting for that special treasure at an outdoor market, making her yummy salads, (her secret was lots of love, and extra bacon) or rocked out with you while watching Glenn play, Deni created a beautiful memory just for you.

Deni loved fiercely and was a loyal friend to many. She will be missed greatly.

A celebration of Deni will be held on April 21st, 2024, from 1-5 at the Totem Yacht Club at 5045 N Highland, Tacoma, 98407. Be ready to share a story or memory.
