Bart Minnitti

Obituary of Bart Anthony Minnitti

Bart Anthony Minnitti, 72, of Tacoma, Washington, passed away on October 12th, 2023, ending his fight with cancer.

Born December 3, 1950, Bart was the first child of Samuel and Rachel Minnitti.  He attended Stanley Elementary, Hunt Middle School and graduated from Wilson High School in 1969.  During high school Bart was an avid soccer player and traveled with his team to play in England.

In 1970, Bart married Cynthia Harris.  Shortly after, he was drafted into the US Army and was deployed to Korea.  Upon his return, they bought a house and settled in Fircrest.  During this time, Bart started an apprenticeship with the City of Fircrest which led to his longstanding career as Power Lineman.  Concurrently, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT.  Bart truly enjoyed his occupation, working 47 years both for the City of Fircrest and City of Tacoma, retiring in 2018.

Bart had numerous hobbies from fishing, bowling, shooting, collecting r/c cars, baseball cards and coins.   He always had a project he was working on in the garage from polishing his vehicles, building bikes, to working on boats and camp trailers.  He kept things neat and tidy, following his own advice, “less with the jaws and more with the paws”.

Bart was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Rachel Minnitti, sister Kathleen Troxell, and longtime girlfriend Patricia Blankenship.

He is survived by his 3 children, Monica Minnitti, Rachel Sommerseth (David), Joseph Minnitti and his brother Larry Minnitti (Carol). Grandchildren Andres, Hailee, Tanner, Hannah, Conner & Harper.  He was an upstanding father figure to Patty’s 3 children Jennifer Gonzales, Richard Repp, Robby Repp, and her grandkids.

To honor Bart, there will be a celebration of life on Sunday, December 10th at 1:00 PM.   It will be held at the Roy H. Murphy Community Center, aka Fircrest Rec Center, 555 Contra Costa Ave, Fircrest, WA 98466.
