Obituary of Thomas Carl Broughton

Thomas Carl Broughton was born in Seattle, WA. July 5, 1933 to Ruth (St. John) Broughton and Carl Broughton. He passed away on February 3, 2023 in Tacoma, WA.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Joan, his sons Dennis (Kim), Dale, Scott (Laurie), Gregg, 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and his brother Clifford (Mary).

Tom loved the outdoors and the water. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1951-1954.

After serving our country he began his carpentry career with his father and uncle building homes. Additionally, he crafted custom cabinets and had a business designing and building them. Tom especially enjoyed building and crafting things for others.

He worked for Boeing and later retired from the Seattle School District.

Tom enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his brother, sons, grandchildren & great grandchildren. When he was no longer able to participate in hunting he anxiously awaited news of their successes and looked forward to their daily phone calls from hunting camp.

Tom was a gentle man who always had a smile and a kind word for whomever he came in contact with. He will be eternally missed but his smile will remain forever in our hearts and memories.

There will be a private burial at Tahoma National Cemetery.
