Dear Jim, Aidan, Damon, and family, my shattered heart goes out to you through this difficult time of profound loss and grief. I’m so sorry to hear this news and am sending all my love and prayers to you.
Rachel lived an exemplary life with her big heart, gentle spirit, selfless love, and generosity. She was a candle that lit my life through dark and difficult times, even when I didn’t deserve it.
I pray you find comfort and consolation through the peace of the Holy Spirit, and the love I witnessed and can testify to that she held so dearly for each of you!
You’ll remain in my thoughts and prayers,
Laura O’Donnell

To Jim and the whole family,
There are not words to be able to express the depth of everything that Rachel meant to all of us who got to work with her at Puget Sound. She was a blessing to us all. She put her heart into the people around her. She knew us each as people first and colleagues second. She held us all together. We came to work every day knowing that Rachel would be there for anything we needed – not just work projects that she did impeccably. Much more importantly, she shared a warm smile, a caring question, a listening ear, sage advice. And we loved her back. We will miss her big smile, her contagious laughter, her warmth, her giving of herself, her friendship. There is nothing that can fill the hole that she leaves in my heart. We are all better people for having known Rachel. I am certain of this. I will miss her dreadfully, but her memory will always bring a smile to my heart. Thank you for sharing her with us for all these years.

I worked closely with Rachel when she was our administrator in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at the University of Puget Sound. Always a positive and supportive presence among different personalities and cultures, Rachel helped keep things (and us) together.
May the Lord receive her into his loving arms, "where sorrow and pain are no more."
