Obituary of William Robert Thompson

William (Bill) was born in Tacoma, WA to George and Donna Thompson in November of 1940. He left this earth on December 2, 2021, surrounded by his family.

Bill spent his childhood in Tacoma, attended Clover Park High School, and joined the navy at the age of 17. He spent four years on the USS Forrestal. After the Navy, Bill became a salesman for a candle manufacturer where he worked for 50+ years. Bill fell in love and married the love of his life in July of 1971 and they had three wonderful sons. Besides being a great husband and father Bill loved fishing, stamp collecting, gem/jewelry collecting, garage sales, and sports. Not only did Bill always love watching sports but he also loved coaching. He coached community teams, Federal Way Hawks, Baseball Tigers, Rebels, and Basketball Boys and Girls Club teams.

Bill loves people! He loved to hear their stories, how they were doing and loved to hear different points of view. He genuinely cared about those around him and easily made friends wherever he went. Bill also loved Chocolate! He would always have a piece of chocolate to hand out to someone he met or to a stranger just to put a smile on their face.

Bill was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and friend to all he encountered. Bill is survived by his wife Gail three sons and daughters, Wade (Terina), Paul (Jennifer), George (Danielle), and Kelsey (Justin) Antholt, and eleven grandchildren, Sawyer, Eston, Haldon, Camdyn, Adalina, Colton, Nolan, Cassidy, Bailey, Ty and Amelia. He will be missed by all who knew him. We Love You, Bill. You will always be remembered. Thank you for all your guidance and love.

A celebration of life will take place at 12:00 pm on December 29th, 2021 at Edwards Memorial Federal Way Chapel, 31919 6th Ave S. Federal Way, WA; Burial Service at 2:30 pm at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th, Kent, WA.
