Obituary of Laurayne M. Williams

Laurayne (Lori) Mabel Williams – Lori, 84 died peacefully at her home in Bonney Lake, WA on October 23rd, 2020.  She was born December 20th, 1935 in Benedict North Dakota, the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Miranuck) Krueger.

Lori spent the majority of her young life growing up in Max ND, with her mother, father and sister working the family farm. Lori started singing in the church choir at a very young age and her love of music, singing and dancing continued throughout her life.  As a young girl she had dreamed about becoming an opera singer and similarly she enjoyed attending Broadway musicals, with Phantom of the Opera becoming one of her most beloved.

Lori started her own family after moving to Great Falls, Montana, which is also where she kicked off a long career in banking that she dearly loved, by initially working as a Teller at Great Falls National Bank.  Before she retired, her career list of accomplishments would include managing multiple bank offices, for Peoples National Bank, US Bank, Lockheed Credit Union, and Washington Credit Union. Lori’s career and family eventually led her to Washington state, where she continued to reside and work until 2001, when she finally retired (she had previously retired in 1999) and moved to Dallas Texas.  Lori and her husband Clay remained in Texas until 2017 at which time they moved back to Washington state until the time of her death.

Lori had a ‘knack’ for interior decorating and her homes became a ‘showcase’ of her love for doing this as did her yard with regard to growing her roses (she had to be one of  Jackson & Perkins star customers).  She could oftentimes be found pushing heavy furniture around in order to get it just so… she carried this ‘trait’ into her yard, dragging pots and statuary uphill or down, wherever she thought the absolute best/right place for each piece would be, nothing was left to chance, everything was painstakingly placed for optimum appeal.

Lori suffered from Parkinson’s, and Parkinson’s related dementia for the past several years.  Survived by, her husband of 33 years, Clay,  her sister Addy Defur, her son, Greg Maffit, (Dallas TX), daughter (Renae) Setheni Kirschnick and her husband Herman of Normandy Park, WA.

Those who wish to remember Lori in a special way may consider making a donation in her name to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (https://www.apdaparkinson.org) or to the Alzheimer’s Association (https://act.alz.org/donate).
