My memories of Charlie, Mike and six kids happened over a five-year period while we served as Air Force wives. Never did I imagine that we would be sponsoring such a large family Charlie, Mike and six children. Over this time we developed a strong friendship which has lasted all these years. We shared the ups and downs of military life in a foreign country and we entertained ourselves with dinners, cookouts and sharing stories. I only had one child but we all became one big family. The kids always had something going on and especially Donna who could swear like a sailor. Donna was their special needs child who went to a special German school and the nuns would tell us that if you did not see Donna you would not know that she was an American because she sounded so German with no accent whatsoever. What sticks out in my mind from remembering those years is all the red hair -practically each child had red hair. I remember the boys fondly... as for the most part they were always in trouble or a challenge to mom and dad. Danny, the youngest was the sweet little boy, Julie was small and petite, and J and Joe we’re ruffians and always picked on Donna. David was smart-he never wanted to get in trouble. Donna could swear like a sailor! Lol She would mimic her brothers. As I’ve grown older I have learned to treasure those memories especially when I heard we lost Mike and now losing Charlotte or Charlie as I called her. But I do know that even now they are all one big happy family still as I see them on Facebook and I have I have seen them all grow up before my eyes. I will always treasure our Germany memories.
