This news came very sadly, as I have known the Almonte Family for many years, having went to school with all of the boys. My mom and Mary were both PTA parents and visited our homes often. David will be greatly missed.

My cute little nephew loved to play “businessman “ before he could read or write , he created business card to pass out when we went for walks in our Chicago neighborhood.
He told me he was going to be a great success, make money so he could buy Big Nana a husband so she would not be alone & I could have a new father .... My Dad , passed weeks before he was born , always generous at heart ❤️

Lisa this is April from Avenue Vet. I am so sorry for your loss and amazed that I didn't know you owned Spuds. I held my son's 30th birthday party there in 2011 and we had a blast. Sadly he died 7 yrs later but with fond memories. Can't help but wonder what kind of trouble Dave and your mom are getting into together. Deepest sympathy to your whole family.

Sending love to the Almonte family. I jokingly referred to David as my "west coast dad" when I spent a summer in Tacoma. He and Nico were so helpful, welcoming, and sweet during my time there. They made me feel right at home. He was always inviting me to dinner and checking in to make sure I had everything I needed. David was a spectacular person, and I hope to hug the Almontes very soon.

One of my favorite memories of Dave was his excellent advice on teenagers! He showed me how to gently refuse their off loading of tasks and Mark often quoted what Dave told Gina. To paraphrase, “you are going to think your parents are very ‘uncool,’ but we love you and we will be here when you come back.” He was a wise and loving dad and friend. He will be sorely missed by the Schneiders.

My favorite memory of David was at the Christmas pageant for Stafford Elementary School at Mt Tacoma High School. It was the closing song of the night. David stands up and starts walking up and down the isle, clapping his hands over his head and getting everyone in that room to stand and clap along with him. I remember asking a fellow teacher who that was. We both came to the same conclusion that it was David Almonte. We both said “Of course that’s Dave!” He was an amazing guy, an absolute light and will be greatly missed.

From the moment I met David and Lisa at The Hilltop Street Fair (outside 1111) I fell in love with them. I have never met a more loving, genuine, giving, fun couple and I thank God for the blessing of our friendship. I will always cherish the laughs we had when I found the pic of him in high school while looking through an old album. You are both everything Tacoma and we ALL better for knowing you. Forever.
