Obituary of Peter Frederick Hitt

Peter was born March 11, 1949 in Newton, MA and died February 5,2020 at Manor Care in Gig Harbor, WA of natural cause. He is survived by significant life partner and sincere friend, Theresa, niece Kathy, cousins Jon (Susi), Daniel (Anne), and Bo Bankson. After earning a BA degree at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, Pete hitch hiked out West to San Francisco and to his favorite area the PNW! He was an avid backpacker often trekking alone in the Cascades. Pete was an adventurer, loving and appreciating the wonder and beauty of nature. Many summers of his youth were spent with his maternal grandparents at their home on Wollochet Bay. In the 70’s Pete moved into his grandparents residence where he resided over 50 years. In 1987, Pete began his career as ‘A Clean Sweep’ Chimney service. Weekend and vacation days were well spent with Pete whenever an opportunity beckoned. He was a ‘master’ river guide as he taught others to ride the rapids. He cherished that he experienced eight memorable river trips to the Grand Canyon! Many Western states with destination river trips is where Pete would spend pleasurable times. He spent time challenging the river rapids on a Chilean river excursion.
Before retiring Pete met and got to know friends who grew even closer over the years. These friends first met at the original 7 Seas Brewery in Gig Harbor. Pete linked with those who enjoyed what became Happy Hour as different pubs in the area were visited. Pete was always ready to try a new brew. Cheers Pete -You are missed!
