Obituary of Faith Kuualoha Mahaulu

From Hoʻomalamalama Tandal-Brown, Eldest Niece, Second Generation - “In Honor of a Wonderful Aunty ~ We will Miss You!"

On January 12, 2020, our childhood met destiny when our Aunty Faith Kuʻuʻaloha Mahaulu, was called out from her earth body and into her true form. She peacefully passed away in her sleep, at her home, 7003 44th Ave. E., Tacoma, WA. 98443; with no signs of pain, suffering, or struggle. As if someone came to walk her home to heaven. She would have been 60 years old this October 23rd, 2020. She was not married, and had no children of her own. But between her two sisters: Mapuana and Radiant, she was surrounded by the sum of 50 grandchildren, (a few via livestream), along with 11 nieces and nephews, (two out of state).

Present, were her sisters with their husbands, Mapuana (Kalani Tandal); Radiant (Richard Kaikala); and (via livestream) Becky (Tim Filson). She’s the third daughter out of four, born to My Papa, Alexander K. Mahaulu, Jr.,  & My Mama, Rev. Elizabeth K. Mahaulu, who preceded her in death, and will be missed. She joins her brother, Allington Lemuela Valentine Mahaulu; many more of our Na Kupuna (Elders); and is now in the company of Saints. She had a gift of remembering songs, and a natural talent for playing the piano, self-taught, with no formal instruction. She and her sister’s Mapuana, Radiant, and Becky; grew up in the Lamb Of God Church & Bible School, 612 Isenberg St., Honolulu, HI. They were a quartet and everyone had a part to sing. Today one voice will hail from a higher place.

We are very honored and blessed to have our Papaʻs two sisters, Aunty Marylouise Thomas, from Waimanalo, HI. & Aunty Emmaline Chun, from Honolulu, HI., who wanted to be present to bid her a final, “Aloha ʻoe”.  She is also survived by our Papaʻs brother, Uncle Thomas (Liza) Mahaulu, from Waianae, HI.; our Mamaʻs two brothers: Uncle David (Pualani) Kamai from Hilo, HI.; and Uncle Philip (Getta) Kamai from Kapolei, HI.

She has many of her cousins, who have fond and loving memories of their childhood together, growing up in Hawaiʻi. We would like to give special Mahalo, and recognition to those that couldnʻt be here but made special monetary contributions towards Aunty Faithʻs Mango-wood Urn; as well as the ones who made the long trip, to pay their respects to their sweet, “Faithey-Girl”, in person.
