Obituary of June Elaine Hodgkiss

June Elaine Hodgkiss passed away in her sleep at the age of 94 on January 4, 2020. June was born in Scobey Montana to Cecil and Mila Marlenee on April 22, 1925.  She was preceded in death by her sister Delta Wilford and three sons: Edwin Hodgkiss, Stanley Hodgkiss and Kit Hodgkiss.  She is survived by her sister Glee Tappan and three sons:  Michael Hodgkiss, Les (Bonnie) Hodgkiss and Gerry Hodgkiss, two step daughters:  Trisha Conners and Sherry Olive.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren:  Whittney Kamel, Joseph Hodgkiss, Jody McPherren, Joanna Turcotte, Lexa Cresswell, Gina Erickson, Edwin Hodgkiss and Matt Clubb.  Her legacy goes on with fourteen great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many others who called her Mom or Grandma and a large Ohana family in Hawaii.  

June lived life to the fullest making lasting impressions in the lives of those in her family as well as friends.  She graduated from Emanuel Hospital in Portland Oregon and worked as an RN for 28 years in Oregon and Washington.  In 1973 June and her sister Delta moved to Kona Hawaii to start Draperies by Delaine.  June retired at the age of 81.  In 2016 she moved to Puyallup WA to be close to family in her later years.  

June’s contributions to society earned her a place in the publication “Who’s Who of American Women”.   She served in leadership in the PTA, March of Dimes, Soroptimist International and as a Charter Member of Kona United Methodist Church.
