Obituary of Nora May Shannon

Nora May (Andrews) Shannon
06/03/1934 - 10/09/19

Nora Shannon kept a warm home with an open door for all. She always had something sweet and delicious baking in the oven, and was ready with plenty of home cooked comfort food for anyone who stopped by for a visit.

Nora was born in North Dakota in 1934 to William and Lily Andrews.  She graduated with honors from Centralia High School, and then worked as a telephone operator.  She married Dick Shannon in 1953. They celebrated 63 years together teaching kindness, honesty, and integrity to their 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

As long time supporters of Toledo High School athletics, Nora and Dick would travel, watch, and cheer on their local high school as well as college teams around the state as often as they could.

Nora was a proud member and officer of The Lone Yew Sewing Club. She played an active role in starting and continuing the club’s college scholarship program benefiting local high school graduates.

Celebrating their lifetime of support to the school and community, Nora and Dick were honored to be chosen as two of Toledo’s Big Cheese Parade Marshalls in 2015.

Nora and Dick were inseparable, and together they showered their friends and family with love and laughter through food, conversation, and entertainment.

Nora will forever be loved by her children; Richard (Michelle) Shannon, Jim Shannon, Tamie Shannon (Chuck) Wright, Tauni (Clive) Hatfield, and Kelly (Doug) Daviscourt.
grandchildren;
