Bobby Joe Cooks

Bobby J. Cooks, 60, died suddenly Oct. 2nd 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, WA. He was born on Oct. 22nd 1958 in Merigold, MS, the son of James and Daisy (Harris) Cook.

Bobby graduated from Drew High School, Class of 1976. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army, where he did tours in Korea and Germany. While in the Army he married Velma Russell and they had their first daughter T. Sheree. U.S. Army brought him to Washington State, where he had a beautiful surpriseand blessing, his second daughter, Ariana. Bobby and Velma parted ways in 1996.

After 15 years and 10 months of service Bobby received an Honorable discharge from the Army. His next stop on his journey was a brief stop at Cardinal Health in Auburn, WA. A short time later he found the perfect position with Pierce County District Court as a Work Crew Chief for over 23 years.

One of Bobby’s life passions was playing darts. He played darts for over 20 years throughout the Tacoma Dart community, where he made many friends, including meeting Alisa (Graves) his wife, they married on June 8th 2008.

Bobby and Alisa spend almost 17 years together, traveling and exploring new experiences, trips to Belize, Hawaii, Vegas, Reno and Road trips in their RV “Miss Daisy” to places like the Pacific Coast, AZ and the Grand Canyon. In 2016 Bobby and Alisa found their “Happy Place”, a camping community called Cowlitz Timber Trails (CTTA), where they made many memories around Campfires with family and friends.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents James and Daisy (Harris) Cook; his two Cook brothers, Freddie (Jeep) and Walter (B-Bop), his kitty cat Daisy, his dog Riley, other friends and family. Bobby is survived by his wife, Alisa (Graves); siblings Marcella, Jimmy (Helen), Lillie, Hattie (Chester); children, T. Sheree Cooks (Preston), Tiffany Musgrove (Chris), Michael Christiansen and Ariana Cooks; grandchildren Daijah Cooks (18), Dailyn Cooks (15) and Daion Cooks (11); Grand puppy Roux and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2nd, 1 p.m. Horace W. Tyler Masonic Lodge, 2530 Grandview Dr. W. University Place, WA 98466. Food and Beverages will be provided.

A Dart Tournament in Bobby’s honor will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9th, sign up start at 3 p.m., tournament starts at 4 p.m. at Dawson’s Bar & Grill, 5443 S. Tacoma Way, Tacoma, WA 98409A GoFundMe account has been created in Bobby’s honor, this will assist in his Memorial and all remaining funds will be donated to create a Memorial Park at our “Happy Place”. He loved all the “Littles” (kids) at CTTA.
