I was lucky enough to work with Nadine at Geiger for many years and so enjoyed knowing her. She was kind and helpful to us younger teachers and willing to offer us guidance if we asked. I recall conversations with her at lunch and could easily tell how much she loved and cherished her family.
I was able to visit their beautiful home and was impressed by the artistry and originality of their place. They had truly made a house their home, and their creative imprint was everywhere. I will never forget all the drawers designed into that bedroom structure! They visited me at my home too, as age did not deter those two from a trip across the Narrows Bridge. I was glad Bud got to see his metal sculpture heron on display, front and center, in my living room. Years before, I had admired it and Nadine asked Bud if he would keep it for me until I could save up for it.
By the time I retired in 2010, Nadine and Roy (Bud) had been away from the classroom for many years, but they joined our Geiger retired lunch group we formed. Where one went, the other went, and Bud became an honorary Geiger guy even though his roots were at Mt. Tahoma. They had stories of their lives and travels to share with us, and we enjoyed hearing their tales. We will so miss them at the table.
I send my condolences to the family. May your warm and wonderful memories of Nadine and Roy-- because thinking of one means remembering the other-- bring you comfort. They were such good people and losing them is a loss to all. Sincerely, Lorrie Peterson
