Obituary of Frank Henry Pletcher

Frank was born on January 5, 1956 in Belfonte,Pa. He is the first son to Paul and May Pletcher. He grew up in Howard, PA with his 3 siblings, Ellen Quillen, David Pletcher and Ruth Brewer. He graduated from Bald Eagle High School in 1972. He then went on to attend Penn State University where he graduated with an Associate of Arts degree. In October of 1975 he enlisted in the US Army. He served in the Army for 18 years where he received numerous medals and honors for his service. He retired in 1993 with a rank of E-8. On August 26 1978 he married Jacqueline McGladrey. Over the next 12 years they had four daughters, Jessica, Ashley, Kimberly and Olivia. Jackie and Frank and their four daughters travelled all over the world during Frank’s military career. Frank jokingly referred to each girl as a souvenir due to the fact they were all born in a different states/countries (Jessica –Washington, Ashley-Arizona, Kimberly-Germany, and Olivia-Georgia). Although Frank never had the son he wanted he still tried to enjoy many of the typical father/son things with his daughters. He enjoyed fishing and boating and camping with the girls and more recently Olivia and him would hunt together. Sadly Jackie and Frank divorced in 1999. In 1998 Frank was elated with the birth of his first grandson Jackson Henry Cooley. He finally had “his” boy. In the coming years he would enjoy buying Jackson his first fishing pole and watching Jack play various sports. He enjoyed so much calling Jackson up whenever the Seahawks were playing (usually losing) to tease Jack about it. In 2006 his second grandson Hunter James Mckellips was born. Hunter and Papa (as the kids called him) would love to sit and watch SpongeBob together. For Hunters 5th birthday this July Papa Frank had bought him his first fishing pole and they were both very excited to use it. Finally in 2009 his third grandson was born Cullen Phillip Cooley. Papa Frank delighted in watching Cullen in action. He loved to call and hear Cullen screaming or throwing a fit in the background. He got a special kick out of watching Cullen give his mother (Jessica) a hard time. Over the years several son in laws had joined the family. First was Don Cooley Jr. They were not the best of friends at first but in later years they had become closer and spent the last several super bowl Sundays together. This past year Haeden Brezsko married the youngest daughter, Olivia. He is also in the Army and grew up in a small town like Frank. They formed a fast and easy friendship. At the time of his death Haeden and Frank were working on remodeling Frank’s garage together. Finally Zachary Apple married daughter Kim. Zach and Frank got along instantly. Frank lived a short but full life. He was a world traveler but a small town boy at heart. He enjoyed the simpler things in life such as fishing and camping and a nice cold beer on super bowl Sunday. For most of his adult life he was outnumbered by the females in his life. But he loved his daughters very much and they always kept him on his toes. He very much enjoyed spending time with all his grandsons. He is greatly missed but not forgotten. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial 253-566-1008.
