Obituary of Gladys Blanche Geiger

Gladys Blanche Stivers was born in St. Louis, MO on May 1, 1922 to Jim & Pansy Stivers. She had a great childhood & in Jr. High gave her heart to the Lord. In her own words, “It was the start of a long and very happy life with my Savior”. Gladys met her future husband Leroy Geiger at 16, and they were married 1 year later. They had 3 children within the first 6 years of marriage & by year 10, Leroy had surrendered his life to the ministry. Pastoring kept their family busy and moving around, but it’s here that Gladys seemed to find her niche – a lifestyle of serving others. God has used her willing spirit to care for the body of Christ. Some of those ways included teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, baking cookies for visitation, picking up prescriptions for members in her SS class or taking someone from the nursing home on day-trips. If there was a way she could demonstrate love, she was willing. Gladys’ family, her friends and church family became an even greater focus in her life upon the death of her beloved husband in 1979. This left her with over 30 years of singleness, and she determined to live in a way that would honor the Lord. Upon retiring from the Civil Service, Gladys moved to CA. Eventually, her health would require moving to St. Louis to live with her firstborn, Emily, and ultimately to a nursing home where she needed full time care. She will be missed by all who knew her, but especially by her loving children, Emily, Bill & Fred, along with their spouses Lee, Sharon 7 grandchildren, Scott, Lisa, Paul, Kari, Brian, Gary & Jared, their spouses & 14 great-grandchildren. Those who knew her will miss her easy laugh, her unconditional love and unwavering faith – but we also celebrate, knowing she finished this race, and finished it strong.
