I worked with Andy at the JRA parole office. He was always a positive thinker, able to look on the bright side, wanting to give youth a chance at a better life. He always knew how to remind me to be grateful for things without overtly telling me to--just in the way he lived his own life. He was grateful for every breath he could take. We will all miss him, but I am so glad that his tired body can rest now. With sincere condolences to all his family and friends... ~ Elena.

To the Carino, may the family find peace in knowing that Andy touched many lives being the person he was and that he is in a far better place. Even though his presence will be missed, know that his soul is at peace and contentment. My prayers are with you now and the days to come.

My deepest condolences to the entire family. I met Andy in high school introduced by Jeff Steinborn and it seemed that we clicked as a group. It seemed that Andy, Jeff, Duane and I, would always be close friends. Having shared many fun memories together. Andy always knew how to cheer you up if you were feeling down and could make you laugh even harder if you were happy. As our lives continued on and Andy went to school at Washington State, I lost touch with him. I will miss Andy and his friendship, but will always cherish the memories we all shared with him. Sincerely, Tony Witney

I was one of Andy's professors at UK when he was a master's student. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing from this world and so glad that I had an opportunity to know and work with him.

Andy was one of my best friend's in my master's program in counseling psychology at U.K. He had that ability to deal with the darker sides of life and still keep his heart warm and his smile ready for a friend. One of my favorite memories of Andy was at the beginning of the school-year when we went for a quick ride around campus in his red convertible. We were just going to buy books for our classes, but there was a fair on campus so we stopped for cotton candy. He was just wonderfully spontaneous, ready to enjoy the good things in life like a quick ride with a new friend eating cotton candy in the wind. I remember Andy with great fondness and will take his laughter and good heartedness with me.

I first met Andy in the 7th grade. I remember him putting on 'the serious face,' then swiping his hand in front of his face to have 'the grinning face' suddenly appear. He would always tease me about being the 'homerun queen' during the softball season. I think he liked to see how many shades of red my face could possibly turn. I've thought of Andy innumerable times over the years, and had hoped to cross paths with him again. He was definitely one of a kind, and has had a special place in my heart for all these years. I always smiled when I thought of him. My prayers are with Andy's family.

Glenda, my thoughts are with you and the rest of your family. I didn't meet Andy, but the story of his life was beautifully written. Any brother of yours had to be special. We send you our condolences from Alaska! Love, Leslie

The moment Andy walked off the airplane his first visit to MN, he became one of us. That year he put on one of our son's vests and became our 5th child in our annual picture of the kids. Yes, his smile was infectious, but the way he accepted no boundaries despite his many health issues made him the most exceptional person the Murphy family has ever had the priviledge of knowing. He helped so many people through difficult times. I think at times he didn't leave enough energy to see himself through his difficult times. He gave a piece of his heart and energy to everyone else until at the end of the day, there was none left for him. Andy is one of those legends who will live on forever for who he was and what he did for others. We have a deep sadness in our hearts that our Andy is gone - but the memories are very precious and will be with us forever. Go in Peace our Dearest Andy. We love you.

Andy had a way with his smile. He just seem to lite up the room whenever he entered and always was able to make everyone laugh. How terribly sad for all of his family and friends to loose such a big hearted man. He lives in the hearts of those he touched.
