In the early 1940s Dick moved to Pomona, CA and worked in the Defense Plants, but was drafted into the army in 1944. He was stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas, was married and had a son, James Wirt. Dick was honorably discharged in 1946. Dick started working for the State of California and worked for them for 28 years. He traveled to the various Department of Motor Vehicles offices delivering the inter-office mail. In June 14, 1965 he married Jo Ann and on September 2, 1966, Nancy Rachelle was born to Dick and Jo Ann. After retiring from the Department of Motor Vehicles, Dick started his own trucking business in Riverside, California. Dick loved going camping so nearly every summer he and family traveled to Oregon. In 1982 the family moved to Merlin, Oregon, when Dick continued his trucking business. Finally in 2001, Dick and JoAnn moved to Puyallup, Washington where Dick finally retired. He leaves his wife, JoAnn; son, James; daughter, Nancy; and step-daughter, Winona, with one grandson, Austin. Bible verse: 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. Funeral service to be held 9:30AM Wednesday,January 6, 2010 at Northwest Christian School, 904 Shaw Rd., Puyallup, WA.
