Dear Baldwin family - it just seems like yesterday that we gathered together to celebrate Jimmy -- I was saddened to hear about Doug's passing. He lit the way and encouraged those of us fortunate enough to have him as our elementary principal (and neighbor) to be fair, think and enjoy life. No time or distance will ever take the essence of 'Mr. Baldwin' away from us - he lives on in all the lives he touched.

On behalf of our entire family, Principal Baldwin (as he was known by my family for 5 children during 16 years at Artondale from 1966-1982) not only endeared himself to us kids as students, but my parents as well. I remember fondly that my mother thought so highly of him the number of times she had to bring to his attention our family's concerns. He was a true gentlemen who left a lasting impression on many children and parents who walked through his hallways at Artondale. Our deepest sympathies for your loss.

Dear Doug--I've been recalling the days when we were children together and how much fun we had growing up. I am so glad you were my 'little' brother-the best brother a sister could hope for. I will never forget you. I miss you and I love you. Your sister, Lorraine

I will miss Doug. His laugh, his sense of humor with his great stories. He and I would laugh at something really silly but we couldn't stop. Doug was a lot of fun. I wonder if Easter will be on time this year. It was a joke that Doug told me that I will never forget. My condolences to the family. The YMCA and Friday's breakfast will never be the same.

Barbara and Family, I was so surprised to hear of Doug's passing. I will not be able to attend the celebration and I wanted to pass along our thoughts and prayers. I enjoyed knowing Doug both as a principal and as Jon's Dad. He was gracious and calm to say the least. I'm pretty sure we were in more 'situations' out of school, rather than in and Doug seemed to be there to bail us out on more than one occasion. Your family was such a big part of my life growing up and I always felt comfortable and respected. Doug was a wonderful man and role model. I am grateful for the opportunity to know him.

As my elementary school principal, Doug Baldwin made a difference in my life, and the lives of the other students. His son, Jimmy, and I were in the same class, and it is sad to read that he preceded his dad in death. Even as a child, it was easy to see how everyone loved and respected our school principal. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family.
