Obituary of Sally Jo Armstrong

Born 8/19/1935 in Artesia, CA and passed away 11/9/2009 in University Place, WA. Sally is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Von of University Place, WA; son, Marc (Jane) Armstrong of Santa Cruz, CA; daughter, Libby (Steven) Wallace of University Place, WA; 5 grandchildren, Lauren (Justin) Arnold, James Wallace, David Armstrong, Matt Armstrong, Emily Armstrong; and 1 great-grandson soon to be born. Sally grew up in Southern California, residing in Highland. She graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1953. She then attended Jr. College for some time, leaving to take a secretarial job at Norton Air Force Base. Sally left her career to travel to New Mexico, where she was married to Von. They spent two years there while Von was serving in the Army Artillery at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. In 1958, they made their home in the San Francisco Bay Area. She lived many happy years in Sunnyvale, CA, enjoying lifelong friendships, and raising her children. She was active in school activities, including serving as president of the PTA. Sally loved spending time with her family and friends, cooking and dining out. She was a very caring person and was quick to make new friends wherever she went. Her wit, humor, and infectious laughter brought smiles to everyone who knew her. She was a gifted pianist and often entertained guests with their favorite songs, which ran from the classics to Broadway. One of her favorite hobbies was collecting cookbooks. She was also an avid reader and had a wide range of interests. She relocated to University Place, WA in 1990. She loved the Northwest climate and the many beautiful places she visited. Sally endured health problems which later limited her mobility and activities She faced her battle with cancer courageously, reaffirming her faith in her Lord and Saviour. At Sally’s request, there will be no service. Donations can be made to Franciscan Hospice, 2901 Bridgeport Way W., U.P.
