Obituary of Michael John Murphy

Michael John Murphy was born in Bellflower, California on December 10, 1947 to Valerie Costello and John Murphy. He was taken from us on June 30, 2010 at the age of 62. He was preceded in death by his mother Valerie, and grandmother Helen. He is survived by his daughter Ciara, his granddaughter London, his future son-in-law Dion, his father John, his younger brothers Pat Murphy and Adrian Vincente and his aunt Mary-Dee and uncle Bob. Plus many other relatives and close friends who he loved like family. Mike attended grade school through high school in California and shortly after became an electrician which was a career he excelled in for over 30 years. Mike brought the skills of his trade to Washington in the early 1970’s for more opportunity and had been a resident of Lakewood, WA for over 20 years. Anyone that knew Mike knew that he loved his job and was very good at it. Even more then being an electrician, Mike loved his daughter Ciara and his granddaughter London Micah (named after Mike). He was a remarkably dedicated father that devoted his life to providing for his pride and joy Ciara and as a grandpa Mike was second to none. Mike was a man’s man who loved working with his hands and watching action movies, as well as attending and watching professional baseball and football games. He was an avid listener of music and had an extensive collection of jazz, blues, R&B and rock music. Upon meeting Mike it was very clear that he was a curious and very caring spirit that loved nothing more than a good conversation. Mike had an enormous heart and was willing to go the extra mile for those he cared about. Anyone that was close to Mike is guaranteed to have a story of his heart of gold and the incredibly caring gestures he was known for making. His memory will be cherished forever by all of those who loved him.
