Theodore Forrester

Obituary of Theodore Charles Forrester

Theodore C. Forrester (Ted), born February 19, 1921, passed away February 26, 2012, following a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife Betty (Gonnason) Forrester, sons Dan and Jim (Carol) Birklid, daughter Kathleen (Larry) Spence, stepson Bill (Debbie) Didis, stepdaughter Stephanie (Tom) Swallow, stepdaughter Larisa Didis, sister Marie Darthez, brother Jerry (Jo Ann) Forrester, sister Louise Purcell and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Ted was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years Ruth Capps Forrester, mother of Dan, Jim and Kathleen. Ted, a true blue Washingtonian, spent most of his adult life in Kent and more recently Twanoh Falls in Belfair. He was proud of his work in The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). It is no surprise that Ted became a logger from his work with the CCCs. Proud to be a Navy Veteran, he stayed close to his WW II friends from the USS Nevada. His hard work and upbringing led him to work with the King County Sheriff’s Department, retiring as a Detective in the Homicide and Major Crimes division. His passion for community service led Ted to be active on the Kent School Board and early on joined the Masons, where he was a member for 60 years, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Washington State Retired Deputy Sheriffs and Police Officers Association. Ted’s Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 PM Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Kent Masonic Hall (805 E Smith St. Kent). Donations in his memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
