Obituary of Donald Tracey DeSmith

Donald Tracey DeSmith passed away on June 5, 2012 at Tacoma General Hospital with his loving wife, Jeannie DeSmith by his side. Don was born Feb. 6, 1935 in Helena Mt. to Ralph and Helen DeSmith, he was the middle child of seven children. During WWII he came to WA. On a troop train with his mother and siblings while his father was in the Pacific. They settled in Issaquah near his grandparents. After high school and his stint in the Air Force, he worked as a Glazier, which became his lifelong vocation. Later while living in Denver Colorado, he met his wife Jeanie, a successful long distant relationship inspired Don to move to Tacoma, WA. where they were married. Jeanie called him “Denver” from then on. Don, “Denver” is survived by; his wife Jeanie, two step daughters, Sandy Cummins & Debbie Thompson, son Donald McDaniel, daughters Becky Stiers and Shannon Roberts and his favorite sister Carol Reynolds and Trig (husband). Also numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, a brand new Great granddaughter, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Delores Weishaupt, Marilyn Schwartzenberger, brothers Ralph Jr., Charles and Ron. Don loved fishing, duck hunting and had a passion for animals, gardening and of course he was an avid Denver Bronco fan. We will always remember his infectious laugh, his sense of humor and the ability to put people at ease. A memorial gathering; a celebration of his life will be held 3pm – 6pm Sunday 6/24/12 at the Clubhouse Grill (Ben Dews) 6501 6th Ave. Tacoma, WA. We will honor this truly loving, caring person, Don, “Denver” will be greatly missed.
