My memory of Jim is when he took care of me and my 3 brothers during a wind storm! Jim and Joe took us all out for a drive and we got stuck between two fallen trees! What an adventure!

One of my earlier memories was at their place in Renton. Jim took me down to May Creek to fish. I can't remember catching anything but that he would take me along not just once but a number of times. Over time I came to realize that he never had a problem including me or anybody in whatever he was doing. Jim was a man whose ideals and sensibilities stand as a guide for all of us to live by.

Jim used to babysit us DeRousse kids when our mom and dad went out to dinner, etc. We used to play hide and seek, Jim was always the helper in finding creative places to hide from the seeker. In my mom & dad's bedroom, there were built in storage cabinets of various sizes in the wall. The smallest one was high up, about 2ft by 2ft. Jim lifted my little brother Justin up and STUFFED him in that cabinet. After a futive search, Jim finally let on that Justin was in the cabinet or maybe Justin was hollering for air. We had a blast!!

My memories of Jim take me to every family reunion at my mothers place in December, I can always remember seeing him with a great smile and his stylish hats sitting an conversing with the passing family. I was always so intriged by him. I regret now not knowing him more but I am honored to have him be a part of our family. He will be missed and loved by all.

I cannot begin to tell you all how much I will miss my Dad. He was a great man that I looked up to more and more as time when on. (Let's not talk about the teen years, okay?) I will miss our daily phone calls the most. As I got older, Dad became a trusted confidant and friend. He always had good advice for me when I needed some. Dad taught me to ride a bike, throw a ball, swim, change a tire, shoot a gun, be an independent person and many more things to numerous to list here. I would not have gone to college without Dad's encouragement. I will strive to pass on his lessons to my own kids. They are already on the path that leads to the so called 'Griffin wit'. Rest in Peace Dad, I love you.

Jim will be missed - he was always quick to laugh - although his laughter was often subtle you always knew it was there by the twinkle in his eyes. Although I have known Jim throughout my life I knew him best in the our early twenties when Michelle and he were newly wed and starting their family. They, at that time, lived in Renton. I spent many hours just hanging out with them both. Thanks for treating me like one of the family.

I remember Jim helping me set up and fly my very first kite. He helped me fashion the tail out of some old cotton rags. I asked him if 500 feet of line was enough he said no, so we tied 4 spools together. we flew the kite so high that it crashed into a low flying 737!!! needless to say we never recovered the kite but we had a lot of string!
