Obituary of Robert Edward Bachert

Robert E. Bachert, “Bob”, passed away on September 4, 2011 with his wife, Maryanne, and family by his side. Born to Rueberta and Ralph Bachert on May 30, 1935, he was raised in Bellingham, Washington. Bob spent a good part of his childhood growing up on San Juan and Orcas Island. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1954. Bob’s high school years focused on track, choir, art, working on cars, hanging out with his friends, working and being known as an accomplished dancer at school dances. After graduation, Bob enlisted, with some high school friends, in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA; Oahu, HI and in Japan. After his honorable discharge he returned to Bellingham and met his future wife, Maryanne. Bob and Maryanne married on May 4, 1957 at Assumption Parish. As a talented young artist, Bob applied and was accepted into the Burnley School of Professional Art in Seattle. Upon completion of his schooling he was hired as Art Director for University Printing Company in Seattle. As a businessman he then went onto establish a successful advertising, marketing and public relations firm. Bob’s activities and hobbies included photography, fishing, camping, hiking and traveling with his family. He was also an accomplished watercolorist. Bob loved God, his country and his family. He especially enjoyed entertaining in his home, with his wife, family and friends around him. And as a good friend and neighbor he was always ready to help those in need. Bob is survived by Maryanne, his wife of 54 years; children Kim Bachert (Tony Andrews); Kari Bachert Reyes (Jack Reyes); Jeff Bachert and 2 grandsons (Clay and Wyatt Reyes). Bob is also survived by his sister Hazel Gubsner; nieces, nephews and several grand nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held at Mill Creek Golf and Country Club, 15500 Country Club Drive, Mill Creek, WA 98012 on 10/1/2011 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. The family has requested memorial donations to be made in the name of Robert Bachert for: Franciscan Hospice, P.O.
