I too am glad that Larry finally found some peace and happiness both with Crystal and with his son, Nathaniel. I met Larry in high school when he was every bit the character we all knew him to be. But underneath that crusty, sometimes vulgar facade I came to know a different side of Larry that was quite sensitive, extremely intelligent, and vulnerable. I think he found intimate relationships a challenge and often pushed away those he loved. We shared many great times in our 'coming of age' years, and I hope Larry finds everlasting peace. Of the many musicians and songs he loved, I think most of Elton John, and I think that much of Elton John's song 'Marilyn' applies to his wounded and often misunderstood soul.

Crystal, I keep thinking of how you just showed me pictures of you and Larry just one week prior to his moving on to be with Jesus. I will always remember the twinkle in your eyes, and that smile on both of your faces. I know you realize God has a plan... just keep on smiling, and remembering that. I am praying for you, and always will. Much Love~ Michelle

I had some laughs with Larry, but then who didn't. He definitely liked to make everyone around him laugh. I am glad that he ended his journey here on earth with someone who loved him and who he loved so much. May the Lords peace be with Crystal and all of Larrys family.

I got to know Larry from coming in my music store, Sluggo Music. Through him I meet his wonderful, funny daughter Sara and talked on the phone with his mom Florence and her husband Lloyd. We hadn't had as much contact since I closed my store but he came to visit me at my new job and came to hear my band several times. He told me he had a great girlfriend, Crystal. He was a character! I miss the way you would have a song 'ready' for me to listen to after work because it had a special meaning just for me. I will NEVER forget how you put 'I Don't Dance' on that warm, sunny afternoon and slow danced with me as the tears streamed down your face... I miss your cookin, your hugs, your singin, your 'projects', your encouragement, and that twinkle of 'trouble' in your eyes. I know you've had a lot of pain (and caused a lot too) here on this Earth...and you told me many times that it 'wasn't right' to have been like that and I know you felt bad about it. God was working to heal you and teach you a different way. There will probably (hopefully) be many things shared by others here that remember a totally different 'Larry'....a harder man...but such an Entertainer, such a character... But I got to share the last 8 months with the changed Larry. Still a tease, still a ball-buster, still Crazy Larry/Scary Larry sometimes....but we sure were happy.

I am extremely saddened to have lost my brother and even more so because we remained estranged at the end due to unavoidable circumstances. I knew him well and loved him unconditionally. I know how he loved Oh Henry candy bars, popcorn, icecream, cycling, House, The X-files, 24, The Beatles, guitars, singing, Elton John, Rob Thomas, Linda Ronstadt, Sting, Tim Mcgraw, Faith Hill...some of these singers we saw together in concert. Like myself he loved animals...all kinds...dogs, cats, wolves, white tigers. He loved the moon and the stars. He often spoke of peace, love and understanding. We had some good times which I will always remember. He will never know how much I loved him. May he now rest in peace.

What a beautiful column you wrote, Crystal! You captured Larry's spirited self perfectly. He was outspoken, he told the truth, even when he thought no one believed him except God. He was so quick-witted, always delighting in making others laugh, even when he was going through a tough time. He was sensitive and kind.. And he will not be forgotten. He found his love, celebrated, and now he is with God. Sending prayers to bless his soul and also to comfort all who grieve his passing.
