Arnulfo Cerrillo

Obituary of Arnulfo Martinez Cerrillo

Arnulfo Cerrillo, 56, of Grandview, WA passed away on Saturday November 14, 2009 in route to Harborview Medical Center, Seattle, WA, after a three year battle with cancer. Arnulfo was born on February 1, 1953 in Sunnyside, WA the son of Jesus and Jovita Cerrillo. Arnulfo was raised and received his education in Mabton, WA. Arnulfo worked in various jobs and industry ranging from construction, railroad, manufacturing and agriculture. Arnulfo enjoyed family get togethers, barbecues, gardening, maintaining his vehicles and reading. Arnulfo or Arny as many as his friends called him was a very private person, and a very good friend. He liked to be outdoors, always willing to help out a friend in need. He was a perfectionist, liked to be organized. As an uncle and a brother he made it a point to share some important lessons he thought, his nieces and nephews should learn. Such as, to work hard, learn to earn the things that you want, never waste food, and always take care of what you have. Arnulfo was blessed to have many friends in his life. There is one in particular that we would like to give our heartfelt gratitude to, his name is Bill Ross. He was by our brother's/father's side through his most trying times. He went out of his way to make sure he had everything he needed to be comfortable. From building him a ramp, to taking him outside to get fresh air. Bill took it upon himself to be his caretaker, who very few people are willing to do anymore and for a friend. They were not just friends, but brothers. To him we say thank you so very much. We would also like to thank Donna Ice who was also a very special and supportive friend as also was Steve Maltos. Arnulfo is survived by one son, Orlando Cerrillo, daughter in law Rebecca Cerrillo and two granddaughters Abby and Julie Cerrillo of Mabton, WA. Four brothers, Humberto Cerrillo (Deana) of Lewiston, ID; Jesus Jr. (Virginia) Cerrillo, Richard (Rosie) Cerrillo, and Gus Cerrillo of Mabton, WA. Three sisters, Eloisa Reyes of Grandview, WA, Gloria (Sam) Rios of Mabton, WA, and Angel Mendez of Sunnyside, WA. And numerous nieces and nephews. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff from North Star Lodge for their professional and loving guidance and care through Arnulfo's final journey, as well as Yakima Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Martha Toledo. He will be missed by many. At Arnulfo's request there will be no formal services. Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of his life. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 21st at the Granger Lions Club; E. A St. Granger, WA 98932 at 3:00 pm. Phone number (509) 854-1313.
