Obituary of Joseph Mugo Kirori

EULOGY OF THE LATE JOSEPH MUGO KIRORI BIRTH Joseph Mugo Kirori was born on April 23, 1953 at Kabete, in Kiambu District. Joseph was the firstborn to Festus Kirori Mugo and Beatrice Wambui Kirori. Joseph was a brother – Late Boniface Mukuha, Mary Wanjiru, James Chege, Ruth Nyathira, Mathew Mathia, Julia Wangui, late Peter Kamonde, Jane Ngendo and Dorcas Muthoni. CHILDHOOD Joseph Mugo was an obedient child who took personal responsibility to help his parents to care for his siblings. EDUCATION Joseph Mugo was bright child and loved math and sciences. He passed his primary school education exams and was admitted to Kabete Technical School where he graduated in 1974. MARRIAGE In 1980, Joseph met and fell in love with Tabitha Muthoni Wainana and both agreed to enter into Kikuyu Matrimony. They would later formalize their marriage at St. Andrews ACK. The wedding was presided by Rev. Michael G. Njoroge in the presence of Ronald Bono Gathitu & Jane Wangui Ronald. Joseph and Tabitha were blessed with three children – Beatrice Wambui, Festus Kirori and Jeremiah Wainaina. CAREER After High School graduation, Joseph joined the Kenya Air Force in 1975. In the Forces, Joseph worked as Aircraft Frame Engineer specializing in Non Destructive Inspection (NDI). In 1983 Joseph was sent to USA for further training with US Airforce. After his return to Kenya, Joseph quickly rose to the ranks of a Warrant Officer Grade II. While in Forces, he received the following medals: •Kenyatta Commemorative •Nyayo Installation Medal •20th Anniversary Commemorative •25th Anniversary Commemorative •1St 10 great years of Nyayo Era After serving for 18 years, Joseph decided to retire and in 1993, Joseph was honorably discharged. In 1998, Joseph relocated to USA and settled in Seattle, WA. While in Seattle Joseph was working in the healthcare industry. ILLNESS On August 17th, 2010, Joseph was hospitalized at Harborview Hospital and was diagnosed with a terminal cancer. He underwent a successful spinal cord surgery to remove a tumor. After Harborview Hospital, Joseph was admitted at Shoreline Health & Rehabilitation Center and referred for Hospice care through Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA. While in the hospital Joseph was in high spirits and joked with everyone who came to visit him. We all thought he would overcome it. In the presence of friends and family, Joseph accepted the Lord as his Savior. There were plenty of jubilations in the room that evening. However, Joseph’s fight with cancer would later turn intense and after a week of struggle, Joseph succumbed to cancer and passed away on Friday 29th, 2010 @ 8:15 AM.
