To Sherry, James and Andrea, We were former neigbors and Sherry used to babysit my sons Justin and Kyle. Justin is only two years older than Jerry was and I can remember them being friends in elementary school. It is with great sadness I learned of Jerry's death. He was a sweet boy who always tried to do good. I just learned about this at the beginning of August from Justin who heard about it on the news which I happened to miss. Our hearts go out to you at your time of loss. I read as much as i could on the internet and I agree with James who said that this roomate- Matthew Filmore- who Jerry met in church will have a lot to answer to when his time comes to talk to God. I wish I could turn back time to when Jerry was little and used to come to the door and sweetly ask to play with my son. He was a good boy. God Bless you.

My sincere sympathy to Jerry's family. Jerry was a very special person. He always maintained a positive attitude, even if things were a little tough at times. He always amazed me with his 'I can do it attitude'. I will never forget Jerry and the inspiration he provided.

I knew Jerry from SLHS where I worked 2 years ago in the library. Jerry was a wonderful young man. I so enjoyed talking with him. I KNOW He is in a better place. I had a near death experience 37+ yrs. ago in a car wreck. When my face hit the steering wheel and my head the windshield, I NEVER hurt. Then I was up above my body lying on the ground. It was only when I came back to earth, that I hurt. So when I was having a hard time dealing with Jerry being gone, the Lord said to me, 'remember when you had your car accident. It was like that for Jerry. The Lord said HE took care of him like he did me (Jerry did not hurt)but it was time for Jerry to stay with Him.' I hope and pray the Lord will help you through this terrible time. You are in my prayers. DiAnna

Jerry was one of the nicest people I have met in my life. I went to school with Jerry since JR. high and I never once saw him be mean to anyone, he would always go out of his way to help some one. We remained friends at Spanaway Lake High School, and he was always in a cheerful mood. After he graduated I saw him around town and when ever I spoke with him he always seemed happy and that he was doing good. I am sorry he is gone, I will miss him and I'm sorry for your loss.

To Jerry's family, My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I will always remember Jerry visiting all of us at Spanaway Elementary. He would go through the whole school and say Hi to everyone he met. He always had a big smile on his face. He was a great young man and will always be remembered.

Family of Jerry Shirk: Although I did not know Jerry or anyone in the family, my heart goes out to you. He sounded like a wonderful son. The tragedy of his death causes my tears to fall. I pray you find comfort in all your wonderful memories.

I only met Jerry once when he visited Lakewood Baptist Temple with a friend. He struck me as a very sweet innocent young man with an infectious laugh and smile. It was with a sad heart that I heard of his untimely passing but know he is with the Lord that he served and loved. J C.
