Obituary of James Marshal Wood

Jim was born on September 2, 1924 and passed away on August 19, 2011. He was born in Tacoma, WA and lived here all his life. He graduated from Stadium High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation, he was called to the Army and was assigned to the Quartermaster Corp, then was sent to Camp Lee, Virginia, for basic training. In the Army, Jim went to truck driving school. Upon completion, Jim went to England for assignment. He was stationed in London and Hereford. Then he went to Chalon-sur Marne, France and finally to Munich, Germany. Returning to the states in 1943, he joined the US Postal Service and retired in 1980. In 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Rosie Genna. They lived a happy life together until her death in 1988. For hobbies, Jim loved doing puzzles and do-it-yourself construction projects. He built his present home in 1954 and lived there until his death. Jim is survived by his brother, Robert; children, Pat (Juli), Mike (Laura), Nancy (Steve); and granddaughters, Rosie and Shawn. The family invites you to join them for a celebration of Jim’s life on Saturday, August 27, 1:00pm, at the VFW Hall at 4741 Baltimore St, Tacoma.
