Robert Nelson

Obituary of Robert Lee Nelson

Robert was born on 7/20/1925 in Montesano, Wa. and passed away 2/21/2012 in Gig Harbor Wa. He was preceded in death by his second wife Barbara, and first wife Lillian (Babe), in 1984. Robert is survived by his older sister, Martha Glenn of Renton, wa.; Sons Lee Nelson of Petaluma, Ca.; And Kenny Nelson of Gig Harbor, Wa.; 9 grandchildren, Erik, Angela, Kristopher, Andrew, Ashley, Jasbir, Monika, Cassandra, and Cammie.; 4 great grandchildren; Alyvia, Christian Jesse, Hudson and Ayden Michael. Robert held several jobs as a youngster including paperboy, where he was run over by the deputy sheriff. That incident kept him out of the service and always bothered him since most of his friends were enlisting. Other jobs he held were at the movie theater, and cleaners. Robert was president of his senior class, played drums, and hung out with a unique group of friends which included, just to name a few, Snuffy Brumfield, Boob Brumfield and Don Crisp. This was a tight group! After he graduated from high school he started driving logging trucks, met Babe and when work seemed to be slowing down they moved to Blue Lake, near Eureka, in northern california. Son Lee was born, then Kenny and they moved to Ukiah, Ca. for a brief time and then to Redding, Ca. to work for Humbolt Fir, driving a lumber truck. Bob was a member of the Vasa, and proudly served on the grand jury. He loved fishing, rod building, tying flies, had a passion for rose gardening, and loved his grandkids and great grandkids. His family and friends will forever remember his outgoing personality and unique laugh. Rest in peace Dad, We Love You!
