Obituary of Margot Sue Barnes

Margot Sue (Greenwell) Barnes Margot, 75, was born on May 16, 1935 in Hoquiam, WA and passed away on October 27, 2010 after a courageous battle against cancer. She lived in Puyallup with Terry, her loving husband of 48 years. Survived by her brother, Warren Greenwell and wife Dorothy of Concord, CA and 20 additional California family members. She left behind her 4 children, who all cherish their memories of Mom: · Son - Don Barnes and wife Debbie of Seattle, WA, and their children Chris and Sarah · Son - Ron Barnes of Juneau, AK · Daughter - Pamela Escamilla of Browns Point, WA, her son Travis Beekley, and his wife Stephanie · Son - Gordon Barnes and wife Suzanne of Mukilteo, WA and their children Jordan, Carrie, Zander and Lauren Margot was raised in Hoquiam, WA by her parents Paul and Marguerite Greenwell. Paul was a Navy commander who served in World War II during her childhood. In her youth, she was very social and active with her girl’s choir and other school groups. Margot graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1953, and kept in touch with many of her classmates. She cherished their friendships throughout the years. She moved to Seattle in 1954 to pursue a career as a Legal Secretary. She attained her goal and also worked as a bailiff in the King County Court House. She married Terry, raised 4 children in Seattle WA. She was active in community service, a volunteer in her children’s schools, and their activities. She retired in the early 90s, and they moved to Puyallup in 1997. There, she enjoyed life by being with family, friends, neighbors, celebrating holidays, and traveling. She was a great Mariner’s fan (win or lose), and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles with her morning coffee. Her laughter, warm hugs, sharp wit and sense of humor always left an impression on her family and friends. Service will be held on November 9, 2010 at Tahoma National Cemetery at 10:00AM 18600 SE 240th St Kent, WA. 98042 (425) 413-9614 Open house celebration at her family home in Puyallup, starting at 2:00PM. Donations in her memory can be made to the Franciscan Hospice House.
