Obituary of Thomas E. Freeman

Tom Freeman, age 58, passed away peacefully at his home in Tacoma, Washington Monday evening, March 20, 2006. His beloved wife Kathy, eldest son Eric, and younger sister Beth were at his side. Always a loving husband, father, brother, as well as friend to many. Tom's calm, gentle disposition, amazing strength and incredible knowledge, in what seems like everthing imaginable, will be missed by all whose lives he has touched. Tom was born in Richmond, CA on February 25, 1948, to Alan and Ruth Freeman. Early years were spent in Oakland with sisters Kirsten and Beth with an occasional visit from older brother, Carlos. Tom attended Elmhurst Jr. High and graduated from Castlemont High School, 1966. Shortly afterwards, he joined the Coast Guard and served his country for 3 years. Tom's strong work ethic began at an early age. As a young boy, he had newspaper routes and then later worked for the next door neighbor, Eli's Tree Service while in high school. Tom recently retired as a superintendent with Absher Construction Company. He was a member of Carpenters' Union Local 470 with 20+ years of service. Tom was mechanically gifted, enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles throughout his life and had a great appreciation for his family, friends and work associates. Tom is survived by his loving wife Kathy, sons Eric, Tanner and Bobby, and step-children Shane, Brandy and Karrie, all in Washington state. Siblings include sisters Kirsten Courade and Beth Chandler of California, and brother Carlos Freeman of Alaska. Grandchildren include Mikaela, Isabel, Ivy, Hunter, Amy and Owen.
