Obituary of Duane George Cooper

Duane Cooper transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on December 18 2008 after a long Battle with heart disease. Duane is survived by his loving and devoted wife Annie Cooper, son Trent Cooper, of Jacksonville Florida, daughter Kayla Cooper, of her family home in University Place, and three step-children Eric Young of Port Townsend, Owen Young of Tacoma, Gina Peters of Astoria Oregon, two grandchildren Jacob and Mila Peters and two brothers Martin Cooper, wife Wally of Seattle, Gene Cooper, wife Joyce, of Burien. Brother Tom Cooper, his father Edward Cooper, and mother Virginia Cooper proceeded him in his death. Duane was born in Seattle Washington on March 28, 1953. He had a very happy childhood and enjoyed the life he shared with his brothers. He graduated from Evergreen High School in Seattle, Washington. Duane worked a variety of jobs in his early years, but was best known for his entertaining bar-tending abilities. He was known as the Singing Bartender and delighted many of his patrons with hours of jokes and songs. His intense sense of humor and magnetic personality were his legacy. His outstanding singing abilities landed him many singing engagements and he was featured in newspaper articles for his unique bar-tending style of singer and comedian. Duane stole his wife Annie's heart with his wit and charm, Annie was his biggest fan as they shared a wonderful marriage of 17 years and were blessed with the birth of their daughter Kayla. No one could ever have asked for a better husband, father, brother and friend. His love for his family and friends have put a hole in our hearts for all of us left behind. We will all miss his ability to make us laugh and the sound of his voice in song. We also find comfort in knowing that in the unseen, he is still present, and the hole in our hearts are now filled with his spirit. The family would like to express to all of Duane's family and friends how much each of your friendship has meant to him. We would also like to give a special thanks to the staff of Hospice House for their love, support and compassion during this difficult time. Memorial services will be held on December 23rd 2008, 1:00PM at Life Center 1717 So Puget sound Tacoma WA.
