"John William Frederick Gladstone” Born 12/26/1929 in Memphis, TN and passed away 11/4/2007 in University Place, WA with his special nephew Maxwell & niece Kathy by his side. John served in the USAF. Flint; Niece, Kathleen Flint; 2 sisters, Mary Basham, Nelly Brown; and numerous extended relatives. Viewing to be held 3-9PM Friday, 11/16 at Edwards Memorial Center, 3005 Bridgeport Way W., University Place, WA 98466. Funeral service to be held 11AM Saturday, 11/17/2007 at Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery Chapel, 37600 Pacific Hwy S., Federal Way, WA. The family would like to thank Franciscan Hospice. Biography “John William Fredrick Gladstone” Knox John was born in Memphis TN to Mary Louise Blackburn Knox and Granvel Leannder Knox on Dec. 26, 1929. John grew up in Memphis, TN and later as a young man he moved into the Pacific Northwest with is family where his father worked at Hanford during WWII. Uncle John served for a short time in the US Navy then later served as an airman in USAF. After his service to his country, John spent time as a merchant marine traveling to Alaska, Arizona and many places in between. In his later years, Uncle John and his nephew Max resided in Seattle WA for 21 years and later Boise, Idaho for 2 years, later moving to Tacoma, WA where he resided until his passing. Dear uncle was a self educated man but wanted to finish his education, as a result, he received his GED in May of 1987 in Boise, ID. In his later years, he enjoyed international food, public television, and the radio show “Prairie Home Companions”. May “Uncle John” walk in peace with the Lord. John is survived by his nephew Maxwell Flint; niece Kathleen Flint; sisters, Mary Basham and family of Memphis TN; Nell Brown and family of Memphis, TN; Linda Worton of Walls, MS; James Blackburn of Hollywood, AL; Richard Blackburn of Bellingham, WA; The Flint/Robinson Family of Portland, OR; The Flint/Trujillo’s Family of Parkrose Portland, OR; The Flint/Sanchez family of Gresham, OR; Julian Flint of Gresham OR; The Colucci Family of Memphis, TN; The Blackburn Family of TN, MS, AL; many cousins relatives and extended family through out the south and AZ. Our uncle left 8 nieces/nephews; 10 great-great nieces/nephews; and three great-great-great-nieces/nephews. Arrangements by Edwards Memorial Center 253-566-1008.
