Obituary of Kenneth Brian Foot

Ken was born in Tacoma, Washington on March 17, 1953 and left this earthly life on February 20th with his family at his side. He lived his whole life in the Pacific Northwest. He was a 1971 graduate of Wilson High School - Tacoma. Ken originally worked for Industrial Testing Laboratory in 1975 and 1976. When Cascade Testing Laboratory bought out Industrial Testing in 1976 Ken went to work for Cascade. He worked in the lab and in the field, and became a licensed inspector for concrete, masonry and fireproofing. He also became highly regarded in the field of concrete mix designs, high strength and rapid set concrete, solving concrete problems and all things related to concrete. He also was called on for his expertise in shotcrete, soils compaction and asphalt paving. Over the years he became Cascade's laboratory supervisor, field supervisor, technical director and eventually President. Ken's hobbies included being a mounted shooter where he would shoot balloons with two single action .45's while riding a horse as fast as he could in a particular pattern. He enjoyed playing golf where one of the highlights was the annual Naccarato Invitational. Another highlight was playing card games and ping pong. We never heard Ken place blame, or complain about his cancer. Several weeks before his death, he made the statement "that he did not want to die, but he wasn't afraid to die because he knew he was in Jesus' hands". Ken was deeply appreciative of all the help he received in the last year and was especially appreciative of the doctors and staff at the Cascade Cancer Center (Evergreen Hospital). He is survived by his brother, Russell (Sharon) Foot of Chesapeake, Virginia, sisters Jacklyn Williams and Nadine (Edgar) Glass of Tacoma, three nephews, Ryan & Jack (Lindsey) Williams, & Eric Glass, one niece, Heather (Chris) Schey, two grand-nephews, Benjamin and Luke Williams and two grand-nieces, Alyssa & Charisma Schey. Ken also leaves behind his best friends Donnie and Jean Naccarato and good neighbors Jack, Kim and JT Lemke. Memorials can be made to Grace Baptist Church or Cascade Cancer Center, 12303 NE 130th Lane, Suite 120, Kirkland, WA 98034. Services will be held Saturday, March 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N. Vassault, Tacoma 253.752.6643.
