Obituary of Father Mario Porras Blanco

Rev. Father Mario Blanco was born on January 19th, 1929 in Costa Rica and passed peacefully on October 14th, 2008 in Tacoma, WA. He was 79 years of age. Mario was born to Jose Blanco and Austelina Porras De Blanco. As the nephew of Mon Senior Porras he was raised with the Catholic faith from early on. He studied in St. Don Bosco Catholic School. It was during that time that he received his calling to the priesthood. He studied in several counties in North and South America and Europe. He earned Masters Degrees in Common Law, Music and Latin (and several other languages). After all of his studying and soul searching, Mario became a Priest for the Roman Catholic faith. He served as a missionary in over 12 countries. He helped establish several congregations (over 20 churches) through out the world. He always performed the Tridentine Mass no matter what changes would enter into his spiritual life. This included any orders from the Vatican during the change. He will be dearly remembered as a caring, humble and most importantly selfless. A viewing and Rosary will be held on Friday, October 24th, 2008 @ 6:30pm and a high requiem mass to be held on Saturday, October 25th, 2008 @ 10am – Holy Redeemer 11824 Tenth Ave SW Burien, WA 98146.
