Obituary of Reba Marilyn Smith

Reba was born in Tacoma on August 13, 1922. She passed away august 28, 2008, at St. Clare Hospital in Lakewood. Reba and born to Raymond Floyd Langton and Mary Jane Greenfield Langton, the youngest of five children. Reba went to Jefferson Grade School, Mason Junior High School, and graduated from Stadium High School in 1940. She attend business college and went on to work in the insurance industry for her working career. She was active in the Insurance Women’s Club of Tacoma, in which she served as president, and the National Association of Insurance Women. She was honored as “Insurance Woman of the Year” in 1966. Reba raised two sons, Ronald K. Smith, Tacoma, and Phillip R. Smith (Polly Rosmond), Olympia. Her family was her greatest joy in life. Her granddaughter Truly and great-granddaughters Hannah and Natalie were a source of great delight. Her memories were highlighted by family gatherings in her childhood at Owens Beach, Pt. Defiance, and later on at the Wishkah and at Harstene Island. Reba showed a talent for drawing in high school, which she continued in her retirement at the South Hill Senior Center . She very much enjoyed activities at the Senior Center, including bingo and art classes. Reba was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, William and Warren Langton, and sister Marion Harris. She is survived by sons Ron and Phil, granddaughter Truly Hauser, great-granddaughters Hannah and Natalie, sisters-in-law Jean Langton and Gertrude Ball, and her nieces, nephews and cousins.
